Here's some more in-depth thoughts: Some of the places we have visited have had water that I wouldn't feed to my worst enemy.

With this thing attached, it's very good tasting. I have bought so many of these, I now use one attaching the filter to the nozzle, one out of the filter to my hose, and one attaching my hose to the trailer.

That's what I do, and it seems to work out great. This is perfectly fine, safe, and of no issue. This is the filter breaking in and getting the extra carbon out of the system. There is no health concern with this happening.

I just run the faucet until it clears up, and then we're good to go for the rest of the season. I do this until I get most of the water drops to stop, leave it out on the counter to dry, and boom, it's perfect the next time. I cannot recommend it any higher. I hope I have helped your purchasing decision of this product.

I try to answer all inquires in a timely fashion to the best of my ability. I just installed this on a spigot in my horse barn and I'm impressed already! The house water is taken care of with a water system, but the barn water always had iron in it.

The iron got worse since the pressure tank was replaced in the house to the point where water was cloudy brown with sediment floating in i! Also said this sometimes happens when a pressure tank is replace, it may or many not settle in a few months. Granted it probably isn't taking all the iron out, but at least the water is clear now and no chunks of sediment floating around!

I made my husband taste the water after I put the filter on LOL , he said it still has a metallic taste to it Attached is before and after photo of the water. Leave a comment if you have any questions and I can either take some photos or give more details. I used this for one camping season in my RV and can report no issues.

I suggest keeping a few extra Hose O rings packed just in case you loose one. I lost one on the first trip of the season and ended up needing to use a spare to be able to fully hook up at the site. Do follow the instructions and allow water to run through it for a couple minutes to get all the carbon dust out. The water will initially run very black until it's cleared the dust out.

How to Setup : Carbon Filter

For storage I use a 15 quart hefty latching lid tote. It allows me to store this and my 25' clean water hose separate and protected from anything during storage and transit. I keep my Y adapter and PSI regultor in this same tote. When I get home I open the tote, prop up the filter in the tote to help with draining and then just pour the water into the yard when it's done draining. My photo isn't the best shot of the setup I could have gotten but I also chose it because of the family of deer in the background.

I have not used the spring adapter but have it packed in my "Travel RV tool kit" in case I need it. My only concern would be durability if dropped. I think the chance of it cracking would be more during removal then attaching as it would be heavier with water still inside it. I do plan on buying this product again when I need another. This water filter is not to make non potable water potable but to improve the taste of water. If your well water simply smells or tastes bad and doesn't have any other issues, install a point-of-use under counter charcoal or carbon filter or a granulated activated charcoal tank system with an automatic backwash head to "polish" your water for the whole house.

For mineral issues or acidic water, you'll need tanks with heads and media that filters the individual elements that cause the problems. Disinfection involving bacteria or nitrates includes ultraviolet, ozone systems or chemical treatment systems such as chlorine or hydrogen peroxide. Once you receive the lab results, design your water filtration system yourself or work with a licensed professional.

Work with state-certified or licensed professionals for the best results. One of the easiest, greenest and most inexpensive means to treat water involves a system of tanks filled with natural sand and rock media equipped with automatic electronic heads to filter the water's unwanted components. Water usage drives the size of your filter tanks and media replenishment. Most homes use an average of between 80 to gallons per person of water per day. Media tanks with automatic heads require installation out of the weather to protect the circuit boards in the heads, and access to a power source unless they have a solar panel attachment.

A good place is inside your well house, in a room attached to the house, in the basement or garage. When you want to filter the whole house, the filtration system must be on the feed line to the house before the distribution system branches off in multiple directions inside the house. Most contractors will offer to test your water or provide an estimate of the system's cost and installation without charge. To save money on the installation, talk to the contractor to determine what part you can do to cut costs.

He'll let you know what he needs for installation, which typically includes adding electrical outlets, plumbing lines, water valves and bypass lines.
